Working creatively

For some of us, finding the right words to describe our experiences and feelings in talking therapy can be a struggle. Some people find it can feel easier to work more visually with objects and other creative activities such as drawing. Creative activities can offer an additional route to accessing our thoughts and feelings. When working with memories from our early years, we probably didn't have the adult language available to associate with our experiences and working creatively can help.

There is no prerequisite to be artistic . In fact, artistic skill can act as a barrier to working in this way (although there are ways round it!).

For individual therapy you can chose to work solely in this way or we can introduce creative therapy to support a more traditional 'talking' counselling and psychotherapy approach. Please share this preference with me when we start to work together.
